Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
We are in Moapa, Nevada which is about 1/2 way between Las Vegas, Nevada and St. George Utah.
It is becoming increasingly more common for there to be confusion of us,
LittleBitta Luck Farms - Breeder Harmoney Leavitt and other retriever breeders in the
Moapa area, several with the same last name. We are not affiliated with any other local breeding programs nor do we endorse or qualify any of their breeding decisions, regardless of whether they have dogs from my program/breedings.

We love what we see on your website. How do we inquire about a puppy?
We would love to chat about our dogs and puppies with you. Please read through this section and once you've done that, please feel free to submit our puppy application.

We would prefer to skip the puppy stage. Do you ever have adults available?
We do occasionally have dogs we kept back for ourselves that don't excel like we had hoped they would in conformation or performance venues and are much better suited to be a loving companion in a pet home instead. Please feel free to fill out our application and let us know in the comments you are looking for an adult only.

Why do you only place puppies with AKC Limited Registration and Spay/Neuter Contracts?
We take the responsibility of breeding very seriously. In the scheme of things, we are relatively new to it and as such, I don't yet feel qualified to place puppies in show homes and/or breeding home - we leave that responsibility to our mentors with much more experience and success doing so than we have. You don't want to show or compete with your puppies, but only want to breed for pets? We don't have a puppy for those homes either. We feel there are more than enough poorly bred pets available and only want to add to the underserved need of well bred, fully health and genetic tested puppies, who are from parents who have proven themselves in at least the obedience ring, but ideally in multiple venues.

What does AKC Limited Registration mean?
There are two types of AKC registrations, Full and Limited. The difference between the two is that dogs registered with Limited Registrations cannot be shown in Conformation and puppies cannot be registered from a dog registered with limited registration. Dogs with limited registration can still compete in all performance and companion events ie: obedience, agility, field, hunt test, scent work, barn hunt, dock diving, trick dog, and canine good citizen to name a few.

Can I produce non-registered puppies or doodles with a puppy from you?
I so wish I didn't get this question - but I do - all too often. Goodness Gracious NO. We take the non-breeding clause of our contract very seriously and are prepared to litigate in the event a family intentionally or unintentionally breeds their puppy. There are far too many poorly bred pets in the world, and we take our responsibility of not adding to that problem very seriously.

How much are you puppies?
Our puppies are $3,200-$3,800 depending on the pairing. The difference in cost is dependent on the titling on the parents - not the titling of grand and great grand parents. All of our dogs come from "Champion Lines" and high level multivenue titled pedigrees - well in advance of introductory titles such as CGC and TKN. Not all of our dogs are however Champions themselves. Obtaining their title of Conformation Champion is a very costly (but exhilarating) endeavor and as such puppies from Champion parents are more expensive.

What is included in the price?
The price includes Nevada Sales Tax and the $800 non-refundable deposit to reserve a puppy. We do not collect deposits until a litter is confirmed via ultrasound.
All of our puppies come with AKC Limited Registration Papers. We provide a digital copy of both expecting parents OFA Hip, Elbow, Heart, and Eye clearances and genetic testing results but also a hard copy at time of puppy pick up. Regardless of whether you choose us as the breeder for you, we are happy to help families navigate the complex world of health and genetic testing and encourage any potential family to read about the recommended testing for Golden Retriever on the Golden Retriever Club of America website and then verify the clearances on OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals). Unfortunately too many breeders, whether to intentionally mislead or lack of education, advertise their puppies as fully health tested, when in fact they are either missing clearances, failed clearances, or have the wrong type of clearances, ie preliminary hip and elbow scores, outdated eye exams or heart clearance by someone other than a board certified cardiologist. You shouldn't have to look very hard to find all of a dogs health clearances and any ethical breeder is more than happy to share their dogs clearance with you.
Before leaving us, our puppies are current on all age appropriate vaccines, administered by our veterinarian when they have their 8 week old wellness exams, of which we provide a copy of to their new families. Our puppies are also dewormed, have clear fecal exam and are microchipped before leaving us.
We send our puppies home with a bag of the food they are currently eating, probiotics, a scent article that smells like mom and their littermates, a collar and a leash. We provide guidance on transitioning puppy to their new home and week by week training to make sure your new puppy is on track to grow into a wonderful companion.

That last question was a little intense. I only want a perfectly healthy puppy. Can you guarantee that?
We do go to extreme lengths to make sure we do every screening possible to only produce the most healthy puppies possible. However, there isn't a test for absolutely everything - like cancer, which is a deep concern in our beloved breed. We guarantee all of our health and genetic testing is in place. We cannot however guarantee nothing will ever go wrong with the puppies we produce. That is where our health warranty comes into place. We offer a 26 month warranty in our contract that thoroughly outlines what options are available in the unfortunate event something goes wrong. We have an absolutely tremendous veterinarian and together we are very diligent about making sure anything other than "normal" is noted on our puppy wellness exams, no matter how minor or common the finding is and we share all findings with our puppy families.

I'm not very close to you, geographically. Help with transportation?
When possible, our first choice to get your puppy home to you is to drive with them. We do however, have puppies all across the country, so we're well versed in alternative transportation options in the event driving isn't an option. We're happy to help you navigate flying home with your puppy under your seat (we do not ship our puppies cargo, ever) or put you in contact with our trusted flight nanny if you would like to explore that option.

What if I still have questions not answered here?
We expect lots of questions from our potential puppy families. After we receive and review your application, I reach out (usually within a couple of days) to schedule a follow up phone call where we will discuss the things I consider the most diversely opinionated in terms of golden retriever - and general dog - ownership. This call usually last 30 minutes to an hour, depending on how much previous dog experience the family has. I am not tech savvy so if you don't hear from us within a couple days, please feel free to follow up.
